The Grenfell Tower fire was a devastating tragedy, and our deepest sympathies are extended to the relatives, survivors and all those who have been affected by the events of 14 June 2017. Today, on the publication of the Phase 2 report, and ever since the fire, the victims continue to be in our thoughts as we develop as an organisation through the decisions we make. We will now take time to review the report in detail.
The BBA supported, and continues to support, the crucially important work of the Inquiry. We cooperated fully from its inception to help establish what happened, and as it reached its conclusions and recommendations.
As with the Inquiry’s Phase 1 report, the findings of this 2nd Phase are vital for us to assimilate and reflect on. It continues to serve as a significant focus for us.
We continue to invest in the BBA and our colleagues to foster and enable a culture of continuous learning and development; actively listening, analysing and acting accordingly on feedback we receive in all forms, including that from our sector and its stakeholders
The Grenfell Tower Tragedy has led to a comprehensive review of safety in the UK construction industry. We have engaged and contributed to this proactively and will continue to do so.
We believe in effective and independent validation of a product’s ability to perform a purpose. Since our inception in 1966, our purpose has been to play a vital role in driving safety and quality in construction.
The BBA is part of a collective chain of responsibility in ensuring this, and we remain fully committed to the role we play.
